LAFAYETTE, La. – Friday was thrice as nice for an Acadiana couple.

Paige Broussard, 22, of Arnaudville and her fiancé, Paul Brown Jr., 25, of Lafayette welcomed triplets just before 7:30 a.m. Friday at Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

“It was time,” Broussard said with a weary smile later in the day. “We’re still trying to figure out how we are going to fit three changing tables, three cribs and other things we will need in one room. We already have diapers stacked up to the ceiling.”

Brylon Brown was born at 7:27 a.m. weighing 4 pounds 14 ounces. He was followed one minute later by Braylon, who weighed 4 pounds 15 ounces. And, sister Brylee followed at 7:29 a.m. weighing in at 4 pounds 6 ounces.

The triplets were born premature at 34 weeks of gestation, just three weeks shy of being full term. Brylon and Braylon are identical twins, meaning they developed from a single fertilized egg. Broussard said she learned she was having triplets on Oct. 27.

“When we found out, it was the scariest thing in the world,” said Linda Broussard, Paige Broussard’s aunt. “Then, they put her on bed rest for most of her pregnancy. It all worked out. The family already set up schedules to help her take care of them.”

The triplets join older brother, Brennan Brown, 2. Asked if the couple would have more children, Broussard immediately responded, “Oh, no. That was it. I have three boys now and one baby girl. I have my family.”
