For over 30 years, Women's & Children's Hospital has been caring for families with quality, excellence and compassion. Our team of highly trained physicians, nurses, and other professionals is excited to be making this memorable journey with you.
We’re here for you. We were founded with you, the Mom-to-be, in mind. Both you and your baby will be assigned a Registered Nurse specially trained and experienced in attending to your individual needs.
Your baby will with you as much as you like. You choose. Mom and baby are encouraged to spend time together learning each other’s cues and habits before heading home.
You’re in the right place. Women's & Children's Hospital has the proven experience and expertise to care for and manage situations that may arise before, during, and after your pregnancy and childbirth. Pediatricians, Obstetricians, Neonatologists, and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners are on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a support team of pediatric and maternal critical care specialists to ensure immediate care can take place right here for both Mom and baby.
Our Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists (Perinatologists) utilize the latest technology and resources to treat “high risk” conditions to ensure your pregnancy is safe and complications are minimized.
Beyond our newborn nursery and full range of routine and high-risk obstetrical care, Women's & Children's Hospital has the only Level III Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Acadiana and one of only eight in the state. Women's & Children's Hospital is also home to Acadiana’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the region’s only children-dedicated emergency department, the kids ER.
Should the need arise, an intensive care nurse will join the postpartum nurse in caring for you at Women's & Children's Hospital to ensure that you and your baby will be in the same hospital until you are ready to go home.
Timing is everything. That’s why Women's & Children's Hospital became one of the first hospitals in the United States to adopt the 39-Week Initiative. Research clearly shows there is a significant reduction in the number of infants requiring care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit when a pregnancy can be safely carried to term. Our highly skilled physicians and staff work diligently to help you achieve this. Should the need to deliver sooner arise, physicians and staff are ready to assist you with the proper care and answer all of your questions.
