We Have A Little Emergency
Women's & Children's Hospital is pleased to be the first in Acadiana to launch the W.H.A.L.E. (We Have A Little Emergency) Program in the communities we serve.
Many children today travel with grandparents, baby sitters, guardians and other adults in addition to their parents. One such caregiver, a daycare worker in Virginia, launched the W.H.A.L.E. Program to provide first responders vital information about the child in her care in the event of an accident where she as incapacitated.
W.H.A.L.E. provides labels that attach to car seats and provide vital information about the child in the event of an emergency. First and last name, next of kin contact information, medical information, allergies, prescriptions and other important information is contained in a sealed plastic envelope on the back of each car seat that bears the W.H.A.L.E. sticker.
White 2-by-2-inch labels with trademark blue checks are placed on the side of the car seat and on the side rear windows of the vehicle to alert first responders of the information attached to the rear of the car seat.
W.H.A.L.E. kits will be provided to all women delivering at Women's & Children's Hospital and all those taking Prenatal Classes at the hospital. In addition, the kits are available in the Kids ER and at the Woman’s Foundation, located on the Women's & Children's Hospital campus.
